Ayers Rock is a huge stone in the Northern Territory in Australia.
The stone was originally named Uluru, but everyone outside of Australia calls it Ayers Rock.
The first European who visited the stone was an explorer. He named Ayers Rock after Sir Henry Ayers who was the Chief Secretary in Australia at that time.
It is the second largest stone in the world, and the area is 3.3 square kilometers.
It is formed for more than 300 million years ago.
The stone is made of arkose which is a kind of sandstone.
How is the climate?
The climate is desert.
The climate change often and on a cold winter evening can it be as low as minus 8 degrees and on a hot summer day when the sun is at its highest can it be 48 degrees.
Every year falls between 200 and 250 millimeters rain.
