Billy Casper had been day-dreaming during morning assembly, and suddenly the headmaster, Gryse, Called his name. Gryse said to Billy that he had been sleeping durind the Lord’s Prayer and therefore Billy had to go to Gryse’s room in break.
The other pupils began to giggle, but stopped again.
Billy Casper began to blush.
Outside Gryse’s room stood the three smokers, who had been sent there to get the stick because they had been smoking, MacDowall, who had been accused of being coughing through the hymn, and Billy Casper who had been sleeping througt the Lord’s Prayer.
MacDowall says that if he gets the stick he will bring his father up. The other boys says to MacDowall that it is a bad idea because his father never does anything when he gets to school anyway. But then MacDowall says that Billy doesn’t have a father to bring up, becouse his father is dead. Billy gets angry and they decides to meet and fight at break.
Suddenly they heard footsteps and down the corridor came a boy, who said that he had a message to Gryse.
The three smokers gives all their lighters and smokes to the messenger and said that Gryse would search fore it. First the messenger wouldn’t take it, but then the smokers threat him.
