About a Boy: karakterisering af Will og Marcus

Twelve years old Marcus lives with his depressed single mother, Fiona Brewer. Marcus will do whatever he can to make his depressed mother happy, even if it causes himself with grief. The thirty-eight years old Will Freeman lives comfortable off the royalties of a song written by his father, and therefore he does not have to work a day in his life.

Characterization of Will and Marcus:

The thirty-eight years old main character, Will Freeman lives in London with a very comfortable and lonely lifestyle. Will does not have to work, because his father was a successful singer and became famous when he wrote a song called “Santa’s Super Sleigh”. Instead of working spends Will most of his time to watch television, shopping, drinking, smoking cigarettes and driving around with his expensive Audi TT. Will is an irresponsibility person and does not want to be stepfather for his friends Christine and John, and cannot handle relationships with women’s. Will does not need anybody to survive. He has got lots of women’s, but he does not love any of them. He has no family and no friends. Some day Suzie takes Will to a group park. A picnic, where he meets Marcus, the twelve years old boy, son of Suzie’s friend Fiona. Afterward a fantastic picnic, Will and Suzie took home to Marcus. They found Fiona in the living room which tried to suicide with, overdosed on pills. Marcus starts to be uncomfortable with staying at home. He start to follows Will around, and discovers that Will is childless. Will begins to realize that he is important in Marcus’s life and trying to helping him out of problems at home. Will help Marcus to have a modern style, by buy him new shoes to pimp his style - It did not help, because the bullies stole them from Marcus later at the same day. Marcus becomes friends with a girl named Ellie, in the school. Ellie is a famous girl in the school because the kids are scared of her.Marcus is one of the two main characters. Marcus lives in London with his mother, Fiona. She made him become a vegetarian and she always buys him ugly clothes, like her own “hippie” clothes style. Marcus are the quiet one in school, who does not talk a lot, probably because he has no friends, and most of the students bullying him.
