Australia's biology is extremely unique. There is so much difference of climate, which lead to the unique nature. Ca. 85% of the flowers, 84% of the mammals, 45% of the birds and 89% of the coastal fish is only living in Australia. All this is threatened by human activity, so in 1999 the Australians made a law called EPBC (Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999), to protect the animals and plants in Australia.

Australia is also known for kangaroos, as it's the only country where they live. The kangaroo is the world biggest marsupial and it uses it's long tail too hold the balance while jumping. The female got a little pouch to keep their pups in, so it can walk around while nursing. A kangaroo can live in about 15 years and the Australians see the kangaroo like Europeans sees a deer.

Another animal Australia is known for is the koala. A lot of people think it's in family with bears, as it's often called a koala bear, but it's actually a marsupial like the kangaroo. The koala sleeps about 14,5 hours in a day, and it uses 5 hours just to rest. The last 4,5 hour it use to find food. It eats only eucalyptus leafs, and the koala is the only mammal there can tolerate the poison in the leafs. By eating of the eucalyptus trees it gets the water it needs, so it doesn't drink any water.
