The story is about Karen. Karen is lying in her bed the afternoon before Rory’s party when the phone rang. Karen and Michelle have just met each other, but for Karen it feels like they already are best friends even though she and Connie are. Karen and Michelle talk through the phone but suddenly Michelle come up with up with something about being “the fabulous button sisters” and go to America together. They decide that Karen shall wear a dirt-colored skirt and a beige top and Michelle shall wear a white. Karen hasn’t told her mum about her future plans, because she isn’t like Michelle’s mum, she wouldn’t understand. As the story goes along Michelle called Karen one more time and tells her to meet at the corner in ten minutes. As Karen walks down the street in her chocolate button she could see that something had gone wrong. Michelle was wearing a green top and a denim skirt. Michelle’s mum had sent her an invitation and she thinks she’s ready to go to Hollywood. Karen is confused. Michelle goes to Hollywood and as the time goes she keeps sending Karen letters but she stops replying them in the end.
