The short story is about Laura and her marriage with her husband John. The main theme in the story is violence. The story focuses on violent marriage between John and Laura. The story also focuses on the violence in the street, which the couple is watching on the news, while John is violent against Laura. These two violent scenes end up meeting each other at the end.

She is insecure, because she does not know what his next move is. The unpleasant marriage with violence has changed Laura completely. Her self-confidence and independence has disappeared. He made her reserved and afraid as a person. She is now invisible. She really wants to do something about it, but she is too weak.
