It all started, when I became a teenager. My life was no longer perfect. I used to be the innocent little girl, with a big bleeding heart. I loved my life. I loved my family and friends, and I loved coming to school every day. My parents adored me, they gave my sister and I everything we could ever want in our life. It kills me that I have disappointed them. I wanted to be able to do the same with my children. But my story is a little different.
I turned thirteen years old, but what I didn’t realize at that moment, was that I was no longer a kid. My childhood was over and I was about to face puberty. It all went fast after that. Through my teenage years, I found myself in situations I’d never imagine. I started partying a lot, and I could see the trust going further and further away in my parents eyes. I was no longer their little angel. I stayed out long, and my circle of acquaintance was now the “bad guys.” But It wasn’t until I turned sixteen things changed for real.
I was a Junior at Candice High School, when things turned from all right, to really bad. I found out that I was having a baby. I was sixteen years old, and I gave birth to my baby boy on my seventeenth birthday. It was the hardest and most painful thing I’ve ever done. When I found out I was pregnant, I had to make the hardest decision in my life. The way I saw it, I had three choices. To keep him, give him up for adoption or get an abortion. Either one seemed impossible to me. But I was determined to make the right decision for my child. And looking back on this day, I am sure that I made the right decision. My child could maybe have had a better and more stable childhood with foster parents, but he is and will always be my child, therefore I have to raise him. I made the decision to have unprotected sex, when I was only sixteen, and now I have to live with that decision for the rest of my life.
