For about 33 years ago, Brenda Ann Spencer shot 11 people, in a so called ‘school shooting’. Brenda was 16 years old, and went to the Cleveland Elementary school in San Diego, California. Brenda seemed like a normal teenager from the seventies, except she had an addiction to violent movies, owned a gun and the fact that she a week before the shooting said she was going to do something big to come on TV. The neighbors of the Spencer family claimed that Brenda had a history of theft, drug abuse and truancy. The gun she owned was a 22 caliber rifle, which her father had given her for Christmas. Brenda’s parents got divorced when Brenda was 9 years old, and her father got the custody. Brenda, her dad and her two brothers lived across the road from the school.
A Monday morning in January 1979, Brenda Spencer decided not to go to school. Instead she waited for her father to go to work, and for the principle to open the school. Then she started shooting out of the window, toward the children in front of the school. For about twenty minutes Brenda kept shooting out of the window. Brenda managed to kill two people, and injure nine people.
