Binge drinking is defined as episodic excessive drinking. It is not possible to go and look up binge drinking and find out what the exact amount of drinks, constitute a "binge", because binge drinking is a different thing to different people. This essay will focus on what drives people to binge drink and the consequences it brings.

Binge drinking can easily be associated with Binge Eating and being familiar with Binge Eating Disorder, You would quickly come to the conclusion that binge drinking would be about “over” drinking. Binge drinking is something that is being done one day or over a few days it is not like alcoholism, where you need it every day, but it is still a sort of addiction. Binge drinking can do serious damage to your physical and mental health and can have both short and long term effects. If you are drinking a large amount you are likely to experience a number of short term effects, including hangovers, nausea, vomiting, memory loss, cause injury to your self or others and alcohol poisoning. The long term effects that you can pic up by continuously do heavy drinking over a long period of time. It can be significant damage to the brain and liver, risk of cancer of the mouth, throat or esophagus, sexual problems (especially male impotency), it can have an negative impact on your social life and relationships and the list goes on and on. Most binge drinkers are unaware of the risks associated with binge drinking. A large number of traffic accidents and violent behaviors are actually associated with binge drinking.
