The main point that Jeremy Clarkson is making in his article, as stated in the title, is that binge drinking is, in fact, good for you. If one stopped reading the article there, his claim would seem bold, but as we continue on reading he actually clarifies, that he, in fact, doesn’t state that high quantities of alcohol are good for your liver nor your kidneys, but on the contrary Mr. Clarkson postulates that binge drinking once in a while actually may have a positive effect on our socialization and mental wellbeing. Furthermore Mr. Clarkson states the importance of drinking only within a given timeframe, which according to him is what separates what he calls “binge drinkers” from so-called alcoholics. It seems as if though it means a great deal to Mr. Clarkson, to make a clear distinction between so-called binge drinkers as himself, and alcoholics. This might be due to his despise of the rambling and aggressiveness, that alcoholics have a tendency for. He, Jeremy Clarkson, even goes as far as to say that he “… would rather do time in a Turkish prison, than spend time with a drinker,” which furthers our understanding of his feelings toward alcoholism.
