I heard the word in school a couple of weeks ago. And what I really thought I heard was the word bench drinking. What could that be? I thought the word meant something like sitting on a bench and drink beers. And I got a picture in my head of one of those benches with a small hatch in the middle of the bench where you could place beers. I had no idea how we would be able to start a whole new topic in school about that, but hey, it was Monday morning. It took me approximately two yawns and 10 minutes to figure out that the real word, which I should have heard, was binge drinking. I can’t even remember the last time I was drunk. And it isn’t because I was too drunk to remember, because I don’t drink that much, compared to some of my friends.
In Denmark you can legally buy booze when you are 16 years old, but it’s still easy to get if you’re below that age. You can just get your older friends to buy it for you, or maybe you can actually buy it yourself. It’s not everyone who checks your identity card. Though I do know one guy who checks it every single time, and that’s Lars in Føtex, he loves to mock the youngsters. So if you are below the age of 16, and want to buy booze, I would recommend not doing it in Føtex.
