She cannot decide whether she should stay in her childhood home - by his siblings and his violent father, or whether she should go into town with his "girlfriend" Frank, who can offer her a completely different life than the one she was used to. The text was written in 1914 when it was the women's job to stay home and care for children and provide for food and cleaning. And the role has gone Eveline after the death of her mother while she next to have a job - she works in a warehouse.
