Manchester Daily News Random Avenue 21, 873 Manchester Telephone: 888 823 9012 Email: [EMAIL XX] Dear Editor of Manchester Daily NewsI've been told to write you this letter to give you my opinion about CCTV surveillance.I know that about four million cameras are located in Britain, and that is about a camera for every 14 people. That makes Britain one of the most watched places on earth! But why? Of course there is a lot of crime going on in Britain, and the cameras are helping to find the guilty man of a crime. But have the government totally lost all trust in their people? I know that the crime around the world is rising every year, but is it really necessary to watch over every normal well behaved person?I must say that I feel a little uncomfortable knowing that I can't walk around the streets just minding my own business without being monitored. I'm not saying I am against security cameras. I understand those shop owners who are afraid to get robbed and not even finding the guilty person. What I don't understand is why I have to be watched over as a normal person shopping in the mall. Denmark is not far behind Britain when it comes to the number of cameras for every person. And that is really scaring me. Danes are known to be the happiest people on earth. Why? Well probably because we trust each other. We can easily park our pram with a child in it outside a store without even worrying about anything. We don't have as much security in the streets as they have in the USA. And that is because Danish people have an amazing trust to each other. I believe that trust is being put into doubt when we are putting up cameras in the streets. It would really be a shame if us Danes would no longer be known as the happiest people on earth, just because that trust would totally disappear. What if it would be normal to have CCTV cameras in school classes in Denmark? I know for sure that I would not feel comfortable being recorded while I’m doing a test in school. Our privacy is being invaded. I can't even tell if the NSA or anyone else are looking through my webcam in my pc right now. It would be really weird if they are, but can I even tell?Right now there is a lot of talk about the NSA watching over a lot of people in the USA. They have also been busted listening to Angela Merkel's telephone conversations. So my point is, that the government have the resources to watch over all the people in the world. And they surely are doing that when we are out in public. So how long will it take before they put up CCTV cameras in our own private homes? Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.Yours sincerely
