Growing up in Denmark and America

Hi, my name is [NAVN A], and I am living in Otterup, with my parents, two brothers and one sister. Otterup is a small cosy town in Denmark, where there live about 5000 people. My family is a middleclass family, we are not poor and not rich. We are both on summer and winter vacations. In my opinion Otterup is a good place to grow up, because there are a lot of activities to do, and everything is so close. You can easily be together with your friends and family.

In many others countries like Afghanistan, Syria, Egypt, Libya and a lot more, the kids don’t have a place to grow up, because of the civil war. In Syria many kids don’t have a place to live, and some kids don’t even have parents, and that’s sounds horrible. Unlike in Denmark, where almost every kid have two parents, house, mobile, PlayStation, computer and is in school every day. In countries like China its normal for the parents to smack and hit their children, if they do something wrong.

I think there is a big difference to grow up in Denmark, and grow up in America. In Denmark the children have a lot more freedom than American Children. It is maybe because America is a much much bigger country than Denmark, and there is more crime. In Denmark you only have to be 16 to buy and drink alcohol, but in America you have to be 21 to buy and drink alcohol. In my opinion this sounds totally crazy. Something crazier is that all kind of people in America can buy weapons. It might be one of the biggest reasons, why American school shooting is such a big problem. Unlike in Denmark where you need to get hunt license, to carry weapons. In America the parents cares lot more about their children, than they do in Denmark. Actually some parents install GPS (Global Positioning System) into the car dashboard. The parents can now monitor their child, every time they are driving their car. I think that’s insane, perhaps it is because you hear a lot about kidnapping in America. There is a lot cultural difference between America and Denmark. In Denmark it’s normal to have sex before marriage, but in America many young people don’t have sex before their marriage, and being pregnant before marriage is also a big shame.
