A: It is a short story. It is about a man Morton and a woman, and they have a three-year old son. The story takes place in a park. The whole conflict starts, when the fat little kid threw a spadeful of sand. Larry’s mother saw that, and she controlled her rage by just telling the fat kid to stop. The fat kid threw another spadeful of sand at Larry. Joe’s father supports Joe and tells him to continue. Larry’s parents get involved and start to discuss with Joe’s father. Larry’s father tells Joe’ father in a reasonableness way to stop his child to throw with sand, But Joe’ father ignore that. In this case the family avoided the conflict, and decided to leave the playground. When they walked home they argued about the situation mean while, Larry cried louder and louder. The father means that he did the right thing, and the mother thought, that she could forget this episode by going home, and busy herself with familiar tasks.
B: Morton: Morton is a highly educated man, who studies at the university. He is a rational man and very calm and honest. He is and he does not like to use violence. He tries to solve a conflict with reason and through a conversation, while Joe’s tries step up the conflict. Morton sees escape as the only solution.
