The book is called “the smuggler”. It is written by Piers Plowright, and it consists of 70 pages.
The golden head of Pharaoh Chefren IV, which was stolen from the Darna Municipal Museum, was missing. The police under command Inspector Roland are looking for the head, but without luck. The Inspector keeps a close eye to John Samuel Fame who crosses the frontier a lot for a mysterious business. He was the key of the missing thing because he was the best friend of the thief, Emil Harker who had been killed by his own friend named Ezra. The thief was a leader of a gang of smugglers, who consisted of 4 people. They smuggled cars, but the custom officers didn’t know anything about it.
Fame found a poem which revealed where the golden head was. Fame asked his girlfriend but she didn’t have a clue what the poem meant. Ezra wanted the golden head too, but nobody could solve the meaning of the mysterious poem. Fame knew that Ezra had killed Harker and he decided to follow him to see where his hideout was, but unfortunately he got caught but managed to escape.
After a lot of struggle Fame found the meaning of the poem and went to get the golden head, but when he arrived he was met by Ezra, who had been at the hideout for a while. The two people ended up in a gun fight, but luckily Fame won and delivered the golden head of the pharaoh to the police, who placed it in the museum again.
