The text “just like that” is a short story written by Michael Richards in 1987.The story is about a man and a boy who are shooting kangaroos, probably illegally. The man pressures the boy to shoot the animals. He watch while the man kills the first kangaroo, and it’s hard for the boy to believe what’s happens. The boy thinks he will become a man by shooting the kangaroos. But after killing it he’s only feels empty and disappointed. They find a group of kangaroos and shoot them together. The boy is entranced while using the riffle. While watching the man shoot those kangaroos, something inside the boy dies. The boy finds a big, red buck, and he thinks this kangaroo will make him a man. He’s hesitated about shooting it, but the man pressures him. The boy’s entranced while shooting it. When he sees the buck, he imagines it full of maggots. He’s get sad.When the man says it’s enough for the day, the boy’s gets entranced again and calm. He’s raising his riffle against the man’s head and says ‘dead’.
