It’s already been 10 years since I was in the hurricane Katrina but it feels just like it was just yesterday. I remember everything so clear. It was the 26th august 2005 and just another ordinary day in my life. I just had breakfast with my family and as usual I started arguing with both my big sister and my little brother and got annoyed. So I then decided to go for a walk with our dog down along the beach. There didn’t go very long before I regret taking the dog for a walk because of the weather. But that never minded I was already out so I just continued. The weather quickly changed all of a sudden into a terrible storm. Many people took shelter because the rain was so heavy. Just as I looked out on the shore I saw a hurricane incoming. Even though these natural disasters wasn’t a new thing around here it was a huge chock the fact that a hurricane was on its way. As quickly as I could I grabbed the dog and ran home as fast as I could to warn my family. Before I knew it the hurricane already reached the shore and started destroying houses and killing some people. I was terrified for my life. I couldn’t run away from the hurricane with the speed it had. Before I was in the middle of the hurricane I quickly took shelter under a roof from a destroyed house. Katrina continued doing ravage and killing people. As I had my dog in my arms I kept thinking about my family and if they were still alive. After a while when the hurricane got a little further ahead I took the chance and ran home without thinking about anything else except my dog off course. When I then reached my neighbourhood everything was completely destroyed and there were not much left. My house was left in pieces and my family was dead. I was devastated and had no where to go. Just as I thought everything finally ended it started raining again and floods and lakes started floating over and there came overflow in the streets. As the night pasted helicopters and everything that could come to rescue have kept coming to save survivors. I had nothing left here and now I live with my grandparents in New York.
