This novel is about Clara and her unusual act at her school. As it seems Clara is a modest young girl, but one day she takes off all her clothes in the school assembly. She walks pass the lines of girls, her headmistress and a bunch of teachers standing behind her, into the entrance lobby. Everybody was surprised. The sound in the hall aroused and a few people giggled. The headmistress was stunned for a moment but then firmly proceeded reading up the tennis list. Clara herself didn’t show any real emotions, she just wandered in her own little world. All morning people said “Well done!” or patted her on her back. She got popular with the other girls at school, but unpopular with the headmistress. She got a message from a prefect that the headmistress wanted to see her after school.
The headmistress office was very posh. There was a mantelpiece and expensive chairs. The headmistress asked Clara some questions about the incident that occurred this morning. Clara answered them all shortly. She was telling the truth, though it was a superficial truth. There was more beneath. The headmistress was a bit shocked that Clara would do something like that. She wouldn’t be so surprised if certain others did it, but Clara, that was something new. The headmistress accepted her answers but gave her a warning and she would send her mother a letter about the incident. Clara walked out again, knowing that she was watched, but didn’t really care.
