I was really looking forward to something very different and new. I had the maps and my own personal “survival kit” – lots of chocolate and a drink and, of course, my phone to record my new discoveries.
While walking up the little dirt path I gazed up the glorious mountain, trying to locate the peek. I had for once, agreed with myself to travel out in the nature and escape the city life. Noise and nature pollution was slowly eating me from inside, and for the last few months it had been influencing my work. Thinking about it, it was very healthy and clever to take a break. Just a few days.
I was having a hard time, as the mountain continued to get steeper and steeper and my knees and thighs couldn’t handle the weight and pressure of my over packed backpack. All my friends had informed me that this mountain, Yokoshima, was way too hard for an everyday office secretary like me.
I sat down. I felt out of shape and weak. I was scouting the area and just to the left of me, looking down the mountain, there was a river. The water was pouring down and a small bear cub sat in the riverside, persistently attempting to catch any fish that was coming. I had to take a picture of it. It was my first discovery.
