A day of exploration

I was really looking forward to something very different and new. I had the maps and my own lots of chocolate and a drink and, of course, my phone to record my new discoveries. My father and I had been planning this day for months so I was ready. It had always been a dream of ours to go to Alaska. I had heard that the Kenai Peninsula should be very beautiful, with the vigorous valleys with lakes and forests surrounded by the enormous mountains. We arrived at the Kenai Peninsula early Saturday morning. We had driven in a bus the whole night. I was so excited to experience the nature and the special wildlife. I really hoped to see a moose or perhaps a bear, even though I probably would freak out if I met a bear. The sight I met when I stepped out of the car after half an hour of driving was just breath taking. It was everything I had imagined. It was so much more than the pictures I had seen online. Even though it was summer and the sun shone from a cloudless sky there were still snow on the top of the ridges. The rays of the sun made the leaves of the trees even greener, the snow even brighter and the reflection in the lake even clearer. I had never seen anything like that. But then, just as I I E noises and the wind blew in the trees, it was somehow quiet. There were no noises from traffic or from people shouting. There were only silence. My father and I looked at each other, he also felt it, the peace. After some time of standing and watching, we decided to start hiking. With my phone in one hand and my hiking stick in the other we started walking. After six hours of walking and a lunch break, I finally saw what I had dreamt of. There, half hidden I I I I . Then suddenly it looked me right in the eyes. We stood there just looking at each other for about seven minutes. It was the tensest minutes of my life. Then, just when I thought it would attack me, it took off. After that we went back to the car. The day had undoubtedly been the most exciting day of my life, and it contained everything I had hoped for and more.
