The movie A fond kiss, is about a young man named Casim and his family who are living in Glasgow. His family has decided, that he shall marry his cousin Jasmine. Casim doesn’t really complain, until he meets his younger sister’s teacher Roisin. They fall in love and even though his love is unlimited, he still has to hide it, to avoid problems with his family. Casims family is very religious, and their culture is against sexual intercourse before marriage. That makes almost any contact with girls unacceptable, because kissing and cuddling is just the start. Sex before marriage is one thing, but the fact that Roisin is white makes it even harder to accept. Throughout the plot, they get closer and closer and they have sex, which puts Casim in a very difficult situation. Casims don’t know what else to do, so he tells his parents that he is in love with this white girl. Their reply is not good. They cancel Rukhsanas wedding (Casims younger sister), so Rukhsana turns to Roisin to ask her to leave Casim alone, but she refuges. Not only is Roisin in trouble with Casim, but her position as a teacher at a Catholic school is threatened, because of the hate for mixed race relationships. Roisin get’s fired from her job at the school, but it wasn’t for nothing, because they end up becoming a couple. Casim and his father is arguing and his father makes Casim choose between family and Roisin. He chooses Roisin.
