Solomon Northup was a black man who was born free in New York State, but he became a slave in 12 years. Back in New York Solomon has he a family, he was married with Anne Hampton. They got two children their daughter Margaret and their son Alonzo they are in the beginning of the film 8 and 5 years old. He worked as a violinist.
Why did he end up a slave?
Two men, offers him a (I think it was two week) two weeks job as a musician, if he would travel to Washington D.C. with them. Their names was Brown and Hamilton. When they came, they drank Solomon under and deliver him to a slave ’’Farm’’ owned by James Burch. I think he took the job because he would get some more money there, and so maybe he could give his family a ’’surprise gift’’, that would be a travel to another country or something.

In the scene where John Tibeats tries to hang Solomon (Platt), why does the plantation foreman save him? And why does he let him hang?
(I’m not sure on this). The foremen maybe save Solomon was worth some money or maybe they need Solomon too do some work.
