I got the letter you sent me and decided to write back to you as soon as possible. I am glad to hear from you and it is nice of you to worry about Holden. He has been through a lot lately but he is fine and in good hands. I do not know how much you know of his situation, but I assume you know he left Pencey. He left Pencey without telling us and then traveled to New York where he spent some days all alone. Luckily nothing happened to him and he is alright. Anyway, he is staying at the Ostroff center where he is being treated for his depression. He is already a lot better and him and Phoebe jokes around all the time when she visits. With Christmas coming up he will be spending a lot of time with family, I think that will be good for him. Holden and I have also talked about plans for school next fall, but nothing is decided yet. In other words, we are looking forward to the future and hopefully things will continue getting better.
About your wish to come and see him, I have thought about it and I do not think it is a good idea just yet. He is still a bit out of balance and stressed out and I therefor do not think he is ready for visits other than from his family. Right now, he needs some space to focus on getting better. That being said, I do want you to visit one day, but maybe after Christmas? Of course only if Holden is okay with it. But why would he not be? I hope you understand, and respect my decision.
