IRA The IRA was an Irish republican revolutionary paramilitary organisation which was established in 1919 on the 25 of November by Michael Collins. At that time the British government were ruling Ireland and the IRA were fighting against the British Crown. The IRA played an important role in the war of independence from 1919-1921. When the war was over the British government accepted the establishment of the republic of Ireland named EIRE.
