Everyone wishes to get married and to live happily ever after; but that is not always the case. Some people choose to get married, and after some time they become distant from each other. Resulting in a divorce, which might seem harmless if both partners agree, but it’s not always that easy when there are children involved. When children are involved, things get complicated. As children, are not mature enough to understand what a relationship is. And often become confused, as the life they have had so far has changed dramatically due to the separation of their parents. Most children are pressured to have to choose between a parent. This can lead to new kinds of emotions the children have never experienced before. In this analysis of the text, the focus points are going to be the characterization of Alex, who is the main character, the main theme, and the structure of the text. The text is about a boy named Alex, whose parents have just gone through a divorce. Alex and his sister Rosie are being taken to an amusement part, by Alex’s dad and his girlfriend Paula. During the trip Alex keeps thinking about his mother, and tries to act as nice as possible towards everyone, including Paula. But Alex doesn’t understand why his father doesn’t “like” Alex’s mother anymore, and tries to come with conclusions as which to why. Alex is a young boy, whose parents have just gone through a divorce. Alex has a very curious way of thinking as he wants to be as nice as possible, to everyone he comes across. Which is a quite peculiar thing to be in the mind of a young boy. It is obvious the Alex loves his little sister Rosie, as he shows much love and protectiveness over her.
