The definition of the american dream, is to make it big in America(have many cars, have a big house and have a nice family. Many people seek that dream, so they leave behind their old lives and move to America. For alot of immigrants, it doesn’t work out and they stay poor and live in poor and dangerous neighbourhoods. But for some people it does work out. For example, Michael Oher, who was living in a ghetto for most of his childhood, with his crack-addicted mother and a father who was going in and out of jail. His life was depicted in the movie The Blind Side. In 2004, while a student at Briarcrest Christian School in Mephis, he was invited into the home of Leigh and Sean Tuohy, parents of two of Oher's classmates, and they later legally adopted him. Their support helped the young man parlay his football skills into a scholarship at the University of Mississippi. In 2009, the Baltimore Ravens drafted him.
Other examples are Ole Henriksen, who moved from Denmark to Los Angeles
I would say America’s values are: equality, freedom, capitalism, democracy and strength, just to name a few. Freedom is always something Americans fought for and want to preserve. Same thing with equality, since the civil rights movement in the 1960s, Americans have sought out to destroy any discrimination.
