The short story “Home” is written by Alison Moore, who is a novelist and short story writer, who lives in the north of England. “Home” was first published in 2014. The short story takes place in England or more precisely in Eastmouth. The short story is about Sonia and Peter, who pays a visit to Peter’s hometown for an undetermined period. Peter is very glad and excited to get home, and he has missed home a lot, and Peter thinks that Sonia feels the same way as him, even though Eastmouth is not home for Sonia.

The style in the short story is in general very normal and therefore not that difficult to understand, however there is used some slang and also some more difficult words. An example of slang could be the shortening of bed and breakfast, “She had to be scrubbed red raw in the bath at the B&B”, (p.1, ll. 4), and there is also another example of some sort of slang, “and he nods towards a patch of sunlight the colour of weak urine on a whitewashed, breeze-block wall”, (p.2 ll. 44-45). There is not used a lot of imagery language or other literary techniques in the short story, the short story has a structure which almost can be compared to something like a diary, and the language in the story is also quite like the language in a diary, very down to earth.
