Lydia is one of the main characters in the story (Everything i never told you) by (Celeste NG`s). She is the daughter to Marilyn and James, she is a little girl who just want to make her mom proud of her.
Lydia is a small little girl with curls, that has a very nice personality. She lives in a small house with her mom, dad and brother but it is nice and comfortable for children. Marilyn is a housewife and a economics teacher and James is a professor, they met at a university, together they have two kids Lydia and Nath and a third kid on the way. They are a biracial couple who lived in Ohio in the 1970s.
Lydia is always thinking about how to make her mom happy ex: “How many buns inside the bag” she asked, and Lydia each with her finger, counting (Page 148. line 18-19). Which shows that she is a very clever girl, and that she loves her mother very much. Her mother Marilyn sees herself in Lydia and wants her to reach her full potential, so she tries to teach Lydia to be a independent woman in the future, even though Lydia is still a young girl. Marilyn feels like her educational plans to be a doctor are over, and blames it all on her mother because she was pushing her to a husband and being a housewife, and she got pregnant with two kids and a third one on its way. ex: Marilyn will not be like her own mother, shunting her daughter towards husband and house, a life spent safely behind a deadbolt (Page 147 line 11-13). She doesn't want the same thing to happen to Lydia, and that's why she is encouraging her to reach her full potential, something that her mom didn’t do for her when she was growing up.
