The story by Jennifer Allot, ”mid-air” is about a young boy, Alex. His little sister Rosie, his dad and his dad's girlfriend Paula. They are on a trip to Robin Hood’s Bay. On the trip, Alex gets a lot of flashbacks of his mom, because the destination reminds him of his mom and when they were there with her.
On their way back from the bay, Alex asks his dad to stop the car, because he doesn't feel good. When he got out he vomits, and he also does it on his step moms shoes. After he vomited on Paula's shoes, Alex expresses his thoughts of the trip and reflect his mom because she also liked to go to Robin Hood’s Bay and they used to do it together when Alex was little. On the trip, Alex also reflects to his friend, Ben who likes to talk about catastrophes.
Talking about catastrophes, love does not always work out that way we first of all expected it. Sometimes when a couples gets married and get kids they fall apart because they get too many routines and they focuse too much on the kids. Sometimes is it obviouse for others to see that the relationsship does not work out, but sometimes it is not. In some families do the parents hide their problems from the kids so their divorce most of the times comes unexcpected. This is exactly what the story “Mid-air” by Jennifer Allott from 2012 Is about. Its about how a kid named alex handle his parents divorce.
