Skribentens beskrivelse af School Shooting - The Virginia Tech ShootingWhy did I choose this topic?: I chose to engage with The Virginia Tech shooting because of my curiosity for the topic. I wanted to gain a cultural understanding to why school shootings happens more frequent in America rather than any other place on earth. Simultaneously, I think it’s an exceedingly relevant topic because it takes up much of the public debate. For an example, following the horrific shooting at a high school in Florida this year, students created March For Our Lives to raise awareness and protest gun violence. Introduction: The morning of April 16, 2007 at 7.15 am, Cho Seung Hui a 23-year old senior student entered the campus of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, shot and killed two people, beginning what would become the deadliest and worst example of a school shooting in United States history. More than two and a half hours later he entered another hall of the campus, and killed another 30 people. The rampage ended when Cho turned his gun on himself. A total of 32 people were killed and another 25 injured from the rampage... |
