Consider whether or not Platoon is a war movie in the traditional sense
The film Platoon is not a traditional war movie, primary because of the end. It has not a good ending like other traditional war movies, because Barnes nearly killed Elias, with shooting at him. Then Chris ends up killing Barnes. The film does not end up with one side winning, because both sides lost in different ways. It is not about a war, USA fighting Russia, and USA ends up with a victory, and everyone are happy. Everyone ends up with a scar for life or even worse dead. The film Platoon has the two different personalities in the film. The one that does everything by the book, and the one who does what the fuck he wants to do. As a seer, we do not just see the good things in the movie. We are seeing all the bad things too. The conflict inside a camp filled with soldiers. How they cannot agree with each other every single time, and sometimes they cannot agree at all.
Describe each of them and the attitudes (or views on war) that they seem to hold. How are we given this information in the film, both in terms of the visual representation of the characters as well as the narrative of the film in general?
