The title of the book is ”dance”, and it’s written by Olivia Johnston in 1983. It’s about dancing in the 1980’s. There are a lot of interviews, with people who’s dancing in classes or at home.
One of the interviews is with a girl called Bryony Brind. She’s 22 years old and professional ballet dancer. She’s training everyday from 10 am to 7 pm except Sunday, where she is washing her kitchen floor. Bryony says that ballet is not just a job or a hobby, it’s her whole life. She started at ballet when she was only 3 years old, and that’s what most other ballet dancers do. She has had played a big part in the very famous ballet “swan lake”. “Swan Lake” is written by Tchaikovsky in 1877. Swan Lake is the most popular classical ballet of all.
Dancing is for all ages and sizes. Gabrielle on 50 says that her and her husband wanted a new interest, and then they started to dance in classes. They have met a lot of their friends through the dance. She says that even her mother wants to join a class next autumn. Louise on 17 is hairdresser, and she loves to dressing up for disco. She always spends an hour or more to get ready for discotheque. When she goes out, she’s wearing glittery shine clothes. Louises friend, Tracey, likes more jeans and a fancy top, just something comfortable.
