Society is like a puzzle, a unit that only works with all the pieces together. But we are all divided in each piece. Some pieces fit better together than others. Every society is divided into classes, upper-class, middle-class and working-class. The society needs every class but some classes strive to be more like the others. In the article experts, middle-class people and politicians comment on the different classes in the British society. The problem is that the rich are getting richer and the fact that the middle-class feel a lot of pressure from the upper-class. They feel like they are left behind in society, like the last piece in the puzzle but not to forget very important in order to complete the puzzle. In the article, from The Guardian, “If I had a little money”, the journalist Aditya Chakrabortty does what she can to shed some light on the issue from the point of view of the anxious middleclass.
The article takes off at the Movida Club where Chakrabortty presents the reader with the life of the superrich. Chakrabortty tells us about the super-rich and how they spend so much money on cocktails and don't even care. "After one especially big evening, a businessman was asked by staff if he felt at all guilty. Not really, he replied. "By tomorrow morning, I'll have earned more in interest than I spent last night." the readers emotions stirs up when they read about money the filthy rich is spending on insignificant stuff like a cocktail. The fact that they aren't even worried about spending that kind of money just tells us about how rich they are. That they have earned more when they wake up the next morning. The anxious middle-class is worried about what it will make them look like. But if they ever got that kind of money they wouldn't spend it on something stupid like a drink.
