Circumstances: There has been a terror attack on American soil. There has been a bombing inside the empire state building and an unknown number of people have been killed.

Intention: To unite the American people and be strong in this suspicious time.

SPEECH (DRAFT)

My fellow Americans.

We are all gathered here today because an enemy of democracy has resorted to violence against our country. Yesterday, our citizens, our way of life and our freedom came under attack. An attack that destroyed the lives of thousands of Americans.

The victims to this terrific attack were secretaries, businessmen and women, military and federal workers, mothers and fathers, our family and loved ones, friends and neighbors.

The horrifying pictures and videos of the empire state building collapsing have filled us with disbelief. Disbelief in our systems ability to keep us safe and disbelief in our future.

But even doing this dark and tragic time, I still see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Today everything feels empty, but tomorrow we will show them that the attack has failed, that they did not leave our nation frightened or in chaos.

In the coming weeks, hundreds of federal workers will be working all around the clock in the search for survivors, in the clean-up of the ruins and in the rebuilding of the Empire State Building. In just a matter of time, every office worker that is suspend as a result of the explosion will be able to return to their regular jobs and their regular lives.
