Today has given me a gift, and that is a new hope. A new hope, that we, black people will be respected. A new hope that black and white doesn’t has to be separated. I am a man who was growing up among the kkk’s and their terrorism. I am surprised that they haven’t killed my family and myself yet, but also glad. It is without doubt not easy at all to be a Negro in a white dominated community. I guess you feel the same way. While I’m writing this letter to you, teardrops are dropping down on the paper.
I listened to your speech at my friend’s house. He is the only black man who has a radio in the neighbourhood. The radio is our only delivery of news, besides the few remaining newspapers we will get after the white.
I am happy that you have gathered the courage and momentum of these our times of trouble and dismay to stand up for our common believes and just civil rights. I do not want revenge for the suffering, some whites has caused us, I am only asking for a future with peace and a black and white society. Like you I have a dream of an America with equal rights and opportunities within: sports, educating, economy and even politics. Who knows, we might end op with a black president one shiny day. I finally convinced myself that our times are in changing.
