Social media or anti-social media? Reality-tv or abstract-tv? I’m going to write a debate article about this problem we’re having in our own society today. It is affecting mostly younger people, thinking that being on social media makes them connected, but instead makes them disconnected from everything. I can talk from experience from my old school, we didn’t get our phones taken like here at the private school. Like at lunch time everyone was on the phone, looking down at the trait light coming up from it. Then my phone died from power, I looked up and saw everyone not talking but just looking straight down. I tried to start a conversation with some of my best friends, they mostly looked up and responded but then just straight down again. I deleted my Facebook account so when people realize, they are like ‘are you crazy or something’.
Let me just reference my lyrics that talks about the same matter.
“Late nights have been spent all alone.
Trait lights coming from my phone.”
Nights all alone reference to that everyone can’t hang out, because of their favourite reality tv
show is airing on tv at the time. Then I see “trait lights coming from my phone” which is a reference to notifications lighting up my screen. Today I only have one social media, Snapchat. It’s just like messenger with pictures, I use it to communicate with my friends about hanging out or something like that. I think maybe social media should be for 18+, because of all the bad thing that come along with it. I have seen a lot of stuff on social media that no one ever should see. For example, when I was thirteen, I saw execution videos, decapitated heads and bodies, people dying in the worst ways, people having sex in their own shit. Social media is dangerous and not a place for teens and children. The same goes for reality tv, for example “The Kardashians” they show teens and children, that having a giant ass and makeup all over your face and being fake is a good thing, instead of being real with those you have close to you and hang out with your friends. Just turn off your phone and look around yourself in the train or bus. Then you realize that everyone is disconnected, sometime it could lead to depression and other mental illnesses.
