Social media addiction is a proposed diagnosis related to overuse of social media, similar to Internet addiction and other forms of digital media overuse.
It is fair to say that many people spend far too much time on social media and may describe themselves as being “obsessed”, if not addicted.
Why I chose this topic:I chose this topic because I think there’s a lot of people who spend a lot and maybe too much time on social media. When I then found out that there was actually a diagnosis called Social media addiction, I think it sounded wildly interesting and I got curious and would very much like to explore it more closely.

The average person in America will spend 5 years of his or her life on social media that’s more time than they will spend eating, socializing, and grooming. As people continue to spend more time on social media, that number will only increase.
Nearly everyone uses social media at least once per day, and over 70% use it multiple times per day.
Facebook is the most used then comes YouTube as the second and Instagram as the third.
People use a combination of methods to access social media, including mobile apps, computer web browsers, mobile web browsers and tablet apps.
