'Bloody Sunday', filmanalyse

I’m going to do an analysis of the movie bloody Sunday. It’s very interesting because it’s a movie based on a real event. It still has a meaning that day today. I will start with a summary of the movie and then go to the analysis and at last the conclusion.

The movie Bloody Sunday is based on the event that took place in Ireland in 1972. It was a demonstration that happened in the Bogside area of Derry in Northern Ireland. The demonstration was not as the main character has planned. It was supposed to be a peaceful march, but it became aggressive and violent. The protestant oppressed the catholic and throw stones, therefore began the catholic army to shoot. It became heavier. At the end of the demonstration, the army found out that they have done bad things, they found 3 dead people. And there is 13 dead and 14 hurts. The army lies about why they have shot all these people. None of the army get punished.

The social environment shows people from middle class and upper class, witch you can see on the cloth and language. The movie is over two days, and it took place in the time where the period “the troubles” was. The mood is not so good. It seemed to be discourage, serious and depressing. It’s seemed also to be stressed and noisy. The atmosphere is Light/grey and rainy. The characteristic of Ivan shows that he is a part of the parliament, but still a protestant. He is fighting for their rights. Ivan is a civil rights autism, and he is long educated and very smart. He knows probably everyone in town. He is together with France, which is catholic. Through the movie is he always thinking about nonviolent solutions. Then we also have Gerry, which is pretty much opposite to Ivan. He is a terrorist and is just thinking of violent solutions. He is also younger than Ivan and do not have a long education, so he is not so smart as Ivan, but he is still well known in town. The plot do we have in the middle of the movie, where the Catholic army begins to shoot, and chaos is really creating itself.
