Bloody Sunday Bloody Sunday is one of the most prominent events in the conflict between Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland. On 30 January 1972 arrived paratroopers from the British Army in Londonderry in Northern Ireland, when this day was a great demonstration. The purpose with this demonstration was more rights for Catholics in Northern Ireland. Fearing that the demonstration should become violent, summoned these soldiers. The soldiers’ errand was to control and arrest the demonstrators, mostly the violent. During the arrests of protesters believed the soldiers that they were fired on and shot then accidental demonstrators. 13 were killed
