Comment on the following statement: “Frisking the flight crews in front of the passengers is downright foolish. It only makes the passengers feel unsafe.”
I’ll have to agree with the statement above. I cannot see any relevant purpose as to why it’s necessary to frisk flight crews in front of passengers. Firstly, I believe that it’s hardly ever been the case, that it’s been the crew on a flight that has committed a criminal act. Secondly, I doubt that it will make the passengers safer. Actually a majority of the passengers will probably become suspicious and nervous at the sight of a frisk, while the benefit of a public frisk is probably limited. It will have to be a very throughout frisk, otherwise a crew with evil intentions will find ways to bring along an item.

As a person who’s flown several times, if irregularly, I would like to share with you my point of view of flight safety and security checks. Let me begin by pointing out that I to some extent agree with Elisa Ben-Rafael, who’s previously written a “Letter to the Editor” piece. I think she raises quite a few valid observations regarding airline safety. Especially the remarks about waiting curbside and the courtesy of the personnel are interesting, if not related.
