Filmanalyse af 'Bloody Sunday'

Bloody Sunday is a movie based on the events that took place in Ireland in 1972. This event happened in the Bogside area of Derry in Northern Ireland. The demonstration in Derry was supposed to be a “peaceful march”. However, it turned out to be a lot more than just a peaceful march. As the demonstrators marched through the Bogside area, the British soldiers got a hint that some of the demonstrators were planning to be violent. There were sent British soldiers to Bogside, to protect the Guildhall. Even though the demonstrators was not in possession of any weapons and did not intend to harm anyone. The demonstration was close to be cancelled because the British government warned them about the demonstration. However, the demonstration continued as planned. Suddenly the demonstrators were told that there were British Special Forces. Some of the less so peaceful demonstrators got frustrated they began to throw rocks at the British soldiers. The British soldiers felt that the demonstrators got a little too close and a little too violent and resisted with water cannons, tear gas and rubber bullets. As the conflicts intensified, the British soldiers began to fire real bullets at the civilians. The British soldiers shot Twenty-six civilians and of those twenty-six, fourteen people were killed instantly. Bloody Sunday was part of The Troubles.
