The day is as clear as a window. I will never forget it! The day started as any other day, I woke up, got some breakfast, took a bath and got ready. Ready for what? At this point I didn’t even know myself, my parents just told me to get ready. I was furious at them, I was going to miss the Apollo 11 launch because of this! (I am quite a geek when it comes to space.) But I was ready, jumped into the car and waited for my parents. When I saw the address, they entered on the GPS I didn’t recognize it at all. It was in no-man’s land it seemed. When we got to the destination, I freaked! I don’t think I’ve ever been that happy. They took me to see Apollo 11’s takeoff! We stood just right outside of the Kennedy Space Center! I think about a hundred others had the same idea, because damn there were a lot! I couldn’t even stand still! I was so excited! I think we waited for close to an hour, but it felt like an eternity! At last, something moved. I remember the radio going: “The Apollo 11 takeoff will start in any moment now.” and I freaked even more! I was about to see one of the most important events in history! When the rocket started its takeoff, the ground under us began shaking. It was like a huge earthquake! The rocket lifted and I think I even shed a tiny tear. My parents took the whole day off work, just so they could take their son to a rocket shoot into the sky. But nevertheless, this was the most important day of my life! This was, for me, the day that began it all. This was the day that sparked my career. You see, this day I am an astronaut myself! Funny right? This day inspired me so much, I decided, this is what I want to do with my life. At first, I thought it was just some stupid childish dream. I remember everyone said to me: “You are never going to succeed!”, “It’s never going to work out!” Well look at me now! That is why, this day is so special. Because it started everything!
