Richard Speck is born in 1941. He grew up in a religious family. He has 7 siblings. And he is the next youngest. He did feel very comfortable at home. And had a close relationship to his dad, but when he was 6 years old, his father died by a heart attack. Some years later, his mother got a new man, and Richard started feel uncomfortable. His stepdad was alcoholic and violent to Richard. They moved around, in a really poor area in Dallas. He dropped out of high school, and started drinking everyday. In 1962, when he was 21 he got married to a woman called Shirley Malone, and they got the daughter Bobby Lynn. Already a year into their marriage Richard got in jail. He had faked a signature, so he could earn some money. In 1965 only four weeks after he got release on parole he committed serious violence against a girl on a gas station, and threatened her with a knife. And got a new judgment for 6 month. When he was in jail, got he a tattoo on his arm, where it stood “born to raise hell.” Shirley Malone applied for a divorce, and full custody. And after that it really when bad for Richard. Richard was arrested for burglary and violence but fled to Chicago, where he lived with his sister. He flew back to his home town in Kirkwood, where he lived with some friends from his childhood. He started working as a carpenter, but just for a short time. Because he raped and robbed a 65-year-old woman, in her home. And 7 days later did he stabbed a 32 year old woman until she died. And a lot more of that kid of crime. He managed to escape again, but the police found some of the old woman's belongings in his hotel room.
