Katniss is a sixteen years old girl. Her cat´s nickname is buttercup. She uses her time often in the woods where she hunt. She is great with a bow and a arrow.

Katniss has many sides. It's like she is a lot of characters and faces at one time, and how she is depends on a lot of things. It depends on her mood, who she is with, the situation, where she is and what she wants to get out of it. Katniss skills and knowledge is basically for hunting, which is brilliant if you are placed in an unknown location and need to survive, but also have to found food by yourself. She is also really good to climb trees

Her father is dead. He has been killed in the mine accident. The numbness of his loss had passed, and the pain would hit her out of nowhere.

We have Katniss's sister, her name is Prim.

Gale is a boy, who is in love with Katniss, he want a future with Katniss. He calls her “catnip”

Katniss has a lot of feministic sides in the book. An example of a feministic view is in the first part of the book, at home with Prim and their mother. Katniss is the one holding it all together. She steps in, where her mother can´t. She bought food from the market and cooked it, so she tried to keep Prim and herself looking presentable when she cooked the food. She is brave and daring.
