This cold and soothing morning will be written down in history. Well that was what we all thought. At least that was what they told us. The Wright Brothers had gathered us on this plain and hard field in North Carolina. I was instructed a fortnight in advance, to bring my photographic equipment so they could document their discovery. This was not the first time Orville had summoned the lot of us, and we grew increasingly skeptical. Today was a special day, we felt, even despite the previous conditions. They had created a weird looking vehicle they called, “Flyer”. Of course it will take off with that name. I arranged my equipment, now we were ready. A slight delay was put on the experiment, so I sought to kill time. I think we were about 50 at the event, so I thought I could talk to some of them. I met a journalist, writing a publication about the progress of the Wright brothers, for the local newspaper. Joshua Bekenns, he was named, was a polite young man, who seemed to know his stuff. Another man I met, but don’t recall his name, had helped the Wright Brothers construct Flyers diesel engine, and was there to supply if anything went wrong. Then it was time, Wilbur was putting on his outlandish glasses and Orville, with help from a few others, pushed the vehicle out in front of the crowd. The man, which name I don't remember, went out to check the engine. The atmosphere started building up. Wilbur went in his little cabin in the middle to lay down. Here he had a sort of instrument to steer. I started taking photographs, and all of a sudden a loud noise came from the engine. Is this going to work? Well Orville didn't seem to give up; he began pushing the Flyer, and it mysteriously gained speed. The propeller was turning faster than the eye could follow. Then Orville was running after the Flyer, it wasn’t touching the ground! They were right, it could fly. People were rushing towards the flyer, but they couldn’t keep with it! It was already 50 yards away. Everyone cheered, as the flyer came to a stop 300 yards away. That thing must have been in the air for a solid minute. Wilbur was standing next to the half-destroyed Flyer when we came. He was picked up and celebrated. The flying brothers just made history. . This truly was the experience of a lifetime.
