James Clerk Maxwell was a Scottish scientist and his field was mathematical physics. He was born 13th of June 1831 in Edinburgh and died the 5th of November in Cambridge only aged 48. One of his most noteworthy discovery in the world of physics is classical theory of electromagnetism. He was the first man to bring electricity and magnetism into the same force. Electromagnetism is one of the four fundamental forces and is everywhere you look, because light is electromagnetic radiation.

History of electromagnetism

Back in the start of the 19th century the physicist thought that electricity and magnetism was two separated forces. The first time we saw a relationship between electricity and magnetism was in 1820 when the Danish physicist Ørsted observed that a needle in the compass averted the magnetic north when an electric current was switched on and off and that confirmed that electricity and magnetism had an effect on each other.

Maxwells equations

Maxwell made four equations for electromagnetism that describes the world for electromagnetics. These equations define electric and magnetic fields and how they interact with matter and their effect on other objects.

Maxwell took four well known laws of magnetic and electric fields and unified them into a comprehensible set of equations known as Maxwells equations
