Analyse af Peter Bradshaws novelle 'Reunion'

At some point in life, you will meet people you have not seen for a long time. It is not just any people, but people you had a relationship with that include ups and downs and every fun memorable moment in your life. When you miss the excitement of unconditional love and start remembering people you have brought time with. These situations can be coped differently and end up strangely. In the short story “Reunion” by Peter Bradshaw (2017), the main character Elliott is reunited with his first love of his life.

Peter Bradshaw's short story, “Reunion”, is set across different timelines and settings. Recent and present events. Past events took place in “the baking summer of 1976” (ll. 50-51) when Elliot was a child. The main events of the plot take place over “twenty-four hours”. The physical setting includes different places, but in the present, we see Elliot sitting in the lobby of a hotel, waiting for his taxi. The story’s structure is a bit back and forward mainly of the flashbacks that appears in a non- chronological order. The flashbacks take us back in time in the story and are used to recount the events and helps us give a better depth in why he acts like he does and who he meets throughout the story. The flashbacks are about his earlier crush and partners. These flashbacks have an impact on Elliot, because he misses the youth and the excitement in love, that he has not felt in years.
