Hughes: One Friday Morning 1. Summering “One Friday morning” is a short story written by the African American author, Langston Hughes in 1941. It tells us a story of a young, black girl named Nancy Lee stuck in a world characterized by segregation in the early 1940s America. Her and her family had moved from the South to the North, where it is easier living as a black person in hope of having a better future.
