Miguel is a 17-year-old Ecuadorian boy, that lives in America. He lives with his mother, and grandmother in a small apartment in a poor city. In the beginning, he is a shy boy and does not have too many friends in school. He decides to join a karate dojo named Cobra Kai. He begins to love karate and turns out he is pretty good at it. And one time in school he stands up for a bully and does karate to defend himself. And after that, he gains respect from people his age. Miguel gets more confident after that and keeps building more confidence.
Meanwhile, Miguel trains Karate his sensei, sign Miguel up for the All-Valley Championship in Karate. After a while, the tournament is there, and Miguel wins the tournament. There is another dojo in the city, where there is a big rivalry going on.
